Enrolments

 

The Sycamore School supports primary school-aged students living with ASD, who do not have access to adequate supports in other schools.  The young persons learning ability and capacity to move into less specialised settings are considered during the enrolment process. 

 

Eligibility for Admission

The school defines the following eligibility for admission:

  • Students must have a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • It is preferred that young people reside within the catchment, but the school also accepts young people who live outside of the catchment area who have reliable transport arrangements to and from school.
  • Students must turn five years old by 30th June for enrolment into the Preparatory year.
  • Students must be an Australian Citizen or hold the appropriate VISA.
  • The Principal approves the student’s enrolment at The Sycamore School.

Please note that the school does not employ nurses or medical staff and as such, are not equipped to take students with complex medical needs.

We encourage all prospective families to attend an enrolment tour before submitting their application. Tours of the school are held most Friday's following assembly and are hosted by our Deputy Principal, Elissa Brinckman.   Bookings are essential.  

To apply for enrolment, a complete Application for Enrolment form must be submitted, along with supporting documents and a non-refundable $100 enrolment application fee.   Hardcopy Application for Enrolment forms can be collected from Reception following a tour of the school, or digital forms can be obtained by contacting our school Social Worker, Mandy at This email address is being protected from spambots. When an Application for Enrolment form is received, the school will acknowledge receipt via email, and the young person will be added to our Enrolment Expressions of Interest (EOI) list.  When a vacancy becomes available, the young people on our Expression of Interest List will be contacted.  The young people on the EOI list will also be considered towards the end of each year when we prepare class lists for the following year.

 

Prep 2019

Prep 2019 applications have now closed. High School (Year 7 to 10)

The Sycamore School recently received approval from the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board to expand into High School education from next year. 

From 2019, The Sycamore School will open enrolments for Years 7 and 8. The year 2020 will see Year 9 introduced, followed by Year 10 in 2021.

Tuition Fees

Our Annual Tuition Fee for 2018 is $7,500. This fee is divided into four equal payments of $1,875, which are due at the start of each term at (or via the ASG payment plan). Fees are inclusive of all school supplies and materials, therapy services, and excursions. The School uniform is not included in the Annual Tuition Fee.  A small increase in fees may occur from 2019.
  
Sibling Discounts
The Sycamore School can support families with more than one child on the spectrum, who wish to enrol at the school with the following fee assistance: Child 1 - $7,500 annual tuition fee, Child 2 - $7,000 annual tuition fee, Child 3 - $6,500 annual tuition fee, Child 4 - FREE.

Fee Assistance Program
The Fee Assistance program is available for families who are experiencing financial hardship. The program is managed by the Board of Directors and provides up to 50% fee relief of the $7,500 tuition fee, for a period of 4 school terms. The process is means tested and involves a stringent process assessment and review. Please click here for more information about this program. If you would like to apply for Fee Assistance, please discuss this with the Deputy Principal during your Suitability and Support meeting. Applications can be submitted at any time, and are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
